![]() ![]() The half-hearted calls of "he's friendly, he's friendly" meant nothing to us. My daughter was traumatized in the park when a large off leash dog charged her, running from a distance building up great speed, knocked her over and circled her. And also, I had NO INTEREST in interacting with anyone else's dogs. My dogs were rescues who were terrified by having other dogs run up to them constantly. Even though I live within steps of the park, I was unable to use it to walk my dogs because of the aggression (whether friendly or not) of the off leash dogs. The problem of off leash dogs at Edgerton Park has been increasing for year. My initial post was blocked so I will respond again. A woman (on the board of Edgerton) very involved with the park tried very hard to rectify the situation for two years and finally gave up. Ive put in many calls and all one gets is excuses. I say to the woman who wrote the post GOOD LUCK ! This has never been rectified since I have walked my leashed dogs there for 20 years. We are talking about dogs being on leash as it is posted at each entrance. And no one is speaking of dogs no longer in the park. The dogs keep out "bad elements" ? Do you really want to make this statement and add the threat that should the dogs stop going who knows Who may replace them ?. At the most you can have verbal insults thrown at you. Never an apology, never taking responsibly. The owner NEVER moves faster than a snails pace. I stand frozen, keeping my dog close to me as possible, while the dog circles and circles mine and mine gets more and more tense as I am not allowing him to naturally defend his space. I am tired of being The one who always has to yell." Please leash your dog !" " What ?" " Please leash your dog " " Oh he's friendly" and continue sauntering as their dog is aggressively running up to mine. Everything this person wrote is absolutely correct. My dog was attacked twice by dogs who frequent the park and the owners do not care. So, for the sake of all, I would like to see the situation rectified ASAP. And the thing they don’t seem to realize is that every time that happens, they’ve gotten lucky- should the situation have gone awry, and someone was injured, the outcome would’ve been bad for everyone involved. I’m tired of these dogs beings off leash and even more tired of their lackadaisical owners who could care less about where their animals go and what they do. No apology and a “no harm, no foul” attitude. After I managed to wrangle the dog I must’ve shouted “ who’s dog is this?” several times before the owner leisurely walked over to claim his animal. On 1/24/21 (mid afternoon), my seven- year- old and his friend were chased by a large dog that came out of nowhere- no owner in site. The sign on the way into the park specifically states dogs are to be kept on leash, however, once you around the bend get to that first big hill on your way in, dogs are always running off leash.
